Corner featuring Mihito Sushi Laboratory is located at 1225 Dundas St. E. w. of Dixie Rd. in Mississauga, the municipality to Toronto's west. This location is part of the Spoon and Fork chain. This of course means that table settings include a spoon and fork and reusable chopsticks... nice and appreciated touch. Corner has a nice modern interior. Soy at table was fresh and only slightly salty and quite flavorful. Pop is canned, $2.50 not AYCD.
Miso soup was very good, not dilute and very savoury with plenty of dashi. Mango salad had a nice flavour blend of fish sauce and cilantro. Sashimi on lunch is available, which makes sense for the price. Salmon, crab surimi and white tuna were all very fresh and well presented. Philly roll was very good; Mishy said it was delicious with plenty of cheese.
Pepper beef was very good, especially the sauce. General Tao chicken we both liked and it has some heat. Satay beef on a stick was delicious, but Mishy did not like it... until I showed her the peanut sauce. Spring rolls are very large, so only ordered one but it was delicious and not overcooked.
Garlic beef was delicious and savoury. Beef and chicken teriyaki was served sizzling on a rectangular plate with a wooden base. The beef in the beef teriyaki was also a high quality cut with excellent flavour. Chicken teriyaki was delicious and smoky. Corner also has several pasta dishes; tried the fettuccine Alfredo and it was quite good with plenty of sauce. Japanese fried rice was delicious with a more subtle flavour, egg drop and soy. Golden chicken curry was very good and not overly hot.
There is no dessert on the menu but there is cheesecake if requested and it was excellent. Weekend lunch was $27.99. Considering the included sashimi, this is a very good price these days, and the quality of everything was good to excellent... was a memorably excellent lunch.
