Noble Cuisine (Japanese/Thai)

Noble Cuisine is located at 10 Fairview Dr. in Barrie, about 100km n. of Toronto. It's about a 15 minute walk from the Allandale Waterfront GO station, so even at this distance is still transit-accessible. Noble offers sashimi on lunch! Pop is canned, including Coke Zero (forgot to note the price but it was quite reasonable.) Reusable chopsticks are present which is always welcome. iPad menus are used. Soy at table was fresh, flavourful and not salty. Ginger was dyed pink. We went for weekend lunch.

Miso soup was excellent, rich and savoury and a bit sweet. Hot and sour soup was quite good and fresh which is important as it goes off quickly. Green salad dressing was alright and it was fresh. Curry pumpkin soup we both loved, delicious. Seaweed salad Mishy liked and also not oversized portion. Chicken wonton soup quite good with tender, flavourful wontons though the broth was slightly dilute.

Spicy Salmon sushi good and fresh and not overly hot, thankfully. The Philadelphia roll was very good; the salmon for it and the Spicy Salmon was at the end of being fresh but was still there. Salmon nigiri was very good, fresh enough and great rice, surf clam similarly good. Salmon sashimi was fresh and served in nicely thick portions. Butterfish/escolar sashimi was also fresh and very good. Tomago egg sashimi was very good and also nicely thick portions. Red snapper/tilapia sashimi was quite good and fresh enough.

Chicken teriyaki was delicious, not rubbery, with tender chicken and sauce with wine notes. We both loved the pepper beef which featured black and green pepper and the sauce was delicious and it was very well cooked, as was the garlic beef. I thought the general Tao chicken was just OK and too hot but Mishy said it was very good. Chicken Katsu had a flavourful sauce and was moist and tender. Basil chicken was quite good but also too hot making it hard to get through.

For dessert there are four ice creams and also other desserts that cost extra. Vanilla ice cream was good though slightly freezer burned, red bean was good though lacking that rare flavour, green tea was full of flavour, mango was delicious and we both loved it. Service was very fast and friendly. Weekend lunch $20.99 and given that sashimi is included and everything was good or better (even if a bit too spicy for my personal preference) this is an excellent value and we’d happily return.
