Update: 2021-Aug-20 - This location is not open for dine-in post-lockdown even though it is now permitted, and it is unknown if and when it will ever return. I am therefore removing it from the active list, and will follow up periodically and restore it should it return to AYCE dine-in status.
QQ Sushi is probably the most "out of the way"
AYCE we've reviewed thus far, and I didn't expect I'd find one where I
did: at 52 Kent St. in downtown Lindsay. But we were passing through and
I wouldn't miss the opportunity...
We went for a weekend lunch at QQ. I liked the interior and ambiance but it was unfortunately damaged by nigh-constant yelling sounding like an ongoing argument from the kitchen area. Let's hope that this was a one-time issue and your visit will be free from this distraction.
If you look up QQ online you may wonder where all of the entree items other than sushi are for lunch; the back side of the menu isn't shown online. With this addition, their AYCE menu is complete. There's no low-sodium soy sauce available but the regular isn't salty anyway.
Miso soup was very good; savoury, cloudy and clumpy as it should be when made properly. Wonton soup was unlike any other wonton I've ever had but delicious nonetheless. Mishy applied the "best ever" award to their cheese wontons although she has been occasionally known to hand this out spuriously; they were very good though with plenty of cheese filling.
Salmon sushi was excellent, with very fresh salmon and nigiri not too large. Spicy salmon roll was equally good. Chicken teriyaki had a strange orange sauce that Mishy didn't like, but I didn't mind it. Beef teriyaki wasn't bad but it was cold even when served. General Tao chicken had a lot of sauce but it was well-spiced and quite tasty.
Rating: 7.5/10.

Shrimp
tempura wasn't bad but could have been a bit lighter/flakier. Tofu
tempura was good but it had the same orange sauce on it as the chicken
teriyaki so Mishy wouldn't have wanted it. Dumplings had a nice flavour.
Butter mushrooms were kind of boring and could have used some more
spice but were still not bad. However Mishy and I were even more
polarized about the fried rice; I found the smoky flavour delicious but
Mishy hated it and I can't understand why.
There were
plenty of dessert options: green tea, red bean, and mango ice cream were
good. mango pudding had chunks of fresh mango and I enjoyed it, and
mango mousse cake was very tasty. I was impressed that I could find
reasonably good AYCE fare in a smaller town, and the price of $12.95 for
weekend lunch wasn't unreasonable. I will definitely return to QQ if I
am in the area in future.Rating: 7.5/10.
