NO LONGER AYCE - Chadani Indian Cuisine

Update: 2021-Aug-20 - Chadani has moved to 3466 Dundas St. W., there is no more buffet/AYCE at this location post-lockdown, and it is unknown if and when it will ever return. I am therefore removing it from the active list, and will follow up periodically and restore it should it return to AYCE status.

Chadani is located at 51 Colborne Street, a short walk from King Street subway station so is very accessible by transit. It's a smaller place with an interesting high-ceiling interior. We went for weekend lunch. Pop is $1.99 (canned not AYCD).

Samosas were good and nicely spiced, but a bit dry and were clearly cooked from frozen rather than being fresh-baked (as at the Regency for example.) Naan bread was light, crisp yet moist, full of flavor and we both loved it.

Chicken tandoori was super moist, wonderfully smoky, full of flavor and we both thought it was among the best we have ever had. Chicken curry had a fantastic sauce, thick and rich, full of spice and flavor, and we both loved it. Dal curry was also delicious and very well-spiced and I loved it. Aloo broccoli was very good; I probably enjoyed it more than aloo gobi. Butter chicken was excellent with a delicious sauce that reminded me of pumpkin, and paneer makhani used the same sauce but with paneer replacing the chicken. Onion bhajis were delicious and even Mishy loved them. Green salad with raita was also very good.

For dessert, there was only one flavor of ice cream, which was chocolate that strangely was in a bowl of ice rather than a freezer. This caused the top to melt but inside it was delicious and fresh…  this arrangement definitely prevents freezer burn. Other dessert options were gulab jamun honey balls and some seasonal fruit. Weekend lunch is $14.99 and just about everything was very good for this price, so a good value given the location. We both enjoyed our lunch there, and Mishy added that she thinks of it often and would like to return.
