CLOSED - Sushi Sky (Japanese)

Update 2021-Aug-30: Unfortunately, Sushi Sky is also certainly closed. It is missing from Google Maps with a Domino's now showing its location, Closed in Yelp and its phone # is out of service. It is unknown whether this is due to the pandemic or not. This seems like enough evidence that it is no longer around.

Sushi Sky is located at 478 Yonge St. just north of College St. on the west side, so is very transit-accessible being a short walk from College subway station. Mishy and I checked it out for a weekday dinner.

Sushi Sky is a new establishment so has a nice modern interior with plenty of booths. Low sodium soy sauce is available. The dining plates are also larger which Mishy liked (I imagine because I tend to be sloppy!)

Sushi Sky got off to a good start with the nigh-perfect miso soup, fresh and savoury and among the best we've enjoyed. I wasn't as big on the salad as it needed a little more tartness and flavour in the dressing but Mishy preferred it that way.

Salmon sushi was perfect even to the consistency of the rice to hold it together; this is Mishy's favourite dish (practically her entire reason for going) so she was impressed. Rolls were excellent with rice being of the same consistency; we sampled avocado/cucumber and spicy salmon. Sashimi was excellent and very fresh. Tempura was very good with light flaky batter. Vegetable chicken fried rice was delicious. Mishy unfortunately didn't like the chicken teriyaki but I did, and we both enjoyed the spring rolls.

There were only two flavours of ice cream available for dessert but at least they were good and fresh. The service was also excellently fast and friendly. I quite liked Sushi Sky... It has all the essentials and well enough to be enjoyable, with good service at a competitive price for a weekday price of $19.99. I would certainly return.
Rating: 8.5-9/10.
