Cheetal Indian Cuisine & Buffet

Cheetal Indian Cuisine & Buffet is located at 5951 Clark Ave. in Niagara Falls, near downtown. It’s actually part of the Empress Inn and Suites motel; appears to be leasing their banquet facility. It’s a pleasant, homey place.

Pakora were excellent and flavorful. Curry pakora were very good too. Palak paneer was very good but milder. Chicken Karachi was deliciously curried and enjoyable. Butter chicken was good and also milder in flavor. Naan was excellent, buttery and very fresh. Chana masala was quite good, although I think may have been yesterday's but waste not, want not, and it certainly wasn’t off.

Dal makhani was nice and I enjoyed the spicing. Chicken biryani we both loved and it had nice flavours which had permeated. Curried egg is a hardboiled egg in butter chicken sauce... Which came first? An odd dish to be sure. Rice was basmati and was plain but good.

For dessert, only gulub jamun was available, but they were very good. Weekend lunch is $19.99 including tax. Signage also indicated $1 off for clean plates (and $5 surcharge for wasting food) but as well as we cleaned our plates, I didn’t claim my dollar. Given the area with its inflated “tourist trap” prices this is excellent. To be sure, the selection is small, but there’s certainly enough to both fill up on and enjoy. In contrast, the nearby AlMac’s (in our opinion the worst AYCE still in existence) has the nerve to now charge $23.99 for dinner and everything else any good and accessibly close is much more, so we happily returned to Cheetal for another good lunch a couple of weeks later that kept us satisfied for the remainder of the day.
