Rodeo Brazilian Steakhouse

Rodeo Brazilian Steakhouse is at 95 Danforth Ave. in downtown Toronto, very close to Broadview and its subway station so is very transit-accessible. We went for the Father's Day Special which (unexpectedly for a holiday) is less rather than more expensive.  Although the reservation shows one hour this is the timeframe for arrival, and you have two hours or more so no stress. Rodeo has a very dark interior, so watch out for the steps up to the dining area as both the steps and for are light wood; the contrast is easily missed and I tripped. I pointed this out to the management.

We asked our server how much pop was, and he indicated he wasn't even sure, but that it was six to eight dollars, and canned not AYCD so we decided to pass. We noted that they will bring items that were not asked for it which are inexpensive such as Brazilian cheese bread, fries, a rice dish and fried banana. The sauce for the fries was a Brazilian sauce which is like salsa but more oily and a different spice and it was quite good, and went with them well. The fries were very good... even though they were not asked for. All the cold meats were very good including bruschetta salami.

We both enjoyed the smoked salmon aka lox; it was very good, smokey and better than average. There is blue cheese which is my favourite at the salad bar and it was excellent. I even accidentally had some goat cheese and didn't mind it. Mishy love the beet salad. We both liked the al dente rose carrot.

Finally onto the meats... Mishy she said that the chicken parmigiana was very good and I agree it had a wonderful flavour; although it's not excessive on the parmesan it was very warm. Mishy also really loved the filet mignon parmigiana as well, of course. I certainly can't disagree with that as it was very good. Pork loin I think was also parmigiana, and was delicious, and I'm usually not much into pork... it was only a touch dry. Sausage was delicious and beautifully seasoned. Grilled pineapple does not have as much cinnamon as other places, but was still good nonetheless. Grilled pork rib I left for too long and it got very tough but it was still edible and it was very well seasoned.

Beef parmesan strip was delicious and I could have seconds. However, worth the price of admission was the ribeye which unfortunately is in small strips but they are perfect, beautifully smoked amazingly tender, and with that wonderful steak savour. Leg of lamb wasn't bad for leg of lamb but usually I hate lamb... gamey flavor, and killing baby animals doesn't do it for me. Picanha beef was another worth the price of admission item and was another favourite of Mishy as well. Bacon filet mignon, was as one would expect, excellent.

There are no desserts except for the pineapple which is eaten during the dinner course anyway. Father's Day Special is $60, and whereas this is around $20 less than the usual, it's still $15 less than Touro charges every Sunday, not just once a year, for their brunch rodizio which has been, adjusted for inflation, similarly inexpensive for many years. It isn't that much more than the "standard" price these days (except for the ridiculously overpriced soft drinks) but be aware there is a more budget-conscious option.
