Update: 2021-Aug-20 - There is currently no AYCE at this location post-lockdown even though it is now permitted, and it is unknown if and when it will ever return. I am therefore removing it from the active list, and will follow up periodically and restore it should it return to AYCE status.
Numerous Sushi is a recently opened establishment located at 824 Warden Ave., just south of Eglinton. Seating is with benches, no booths, in an open interior. Disposable chopsticks are used, so I bring my own. Canned pop is $1.50, with one free refill allowed. Ginger is not dyed pink. Soy at table was very fresh, savory and not salty; did not need to request low-sodium. Rolls are served in fours, which I like as it prevents ordering too much.
Green salad was excellent in very good house soy-wasabi-ginger dressing. Miso soup was excellent and savory. Gyoza were very good, and not with a trace of freezer burn or staleness as in many other places. Deep-fried scallops are surimi but were good especially with the dollop of sauce.
Chicken yakitori was very well-seasoned although somewhat dry; Mishy said “mummified,” but it wasn't that bad. General Tao chicken was in a liquid sauce along with vegetables, which may not be for all tastes, but I still enjoyed it. Pork shiu mai was delicious. Beef teriyaki shredded beef and was excellent with plenty of garlic and savor. Chicken cutlet was moist and delicious. Beef short rib was a welcome addition to the lunch menu and was delicious and savory. Chicken teriyaki was excellent, in an excellent sauce, and very well-cooked.
Philadelphia roll was excellent, with avocado and enough cream cheese, both very fresh. Green dragon roll was good, although the sauce was muted. Surf clam nigiri very good and fresh. Pumpkin tempura was very good, as well as shrimp tempura which was very light and flaky. The tempura dipping sauce with so thick and rich with flavor that it was like gravy. Crab tempura was accurately listed as kanikama (surimi,) as was the nigiri; both were good. Inari sushi is nigiri rather than being a pouch as is depicted on the menu, but was good. Torched beef nigiri and oshizushi were both present and both were quite good, and becoming increasingly easier to find these days.
For dessert, mango slush was intensely flavorful, delicious and unique. Lychee, passion fruit and chocolate puddings were excellent, especially the chocolate. Banana tempura very good. Mango, red bean, vanilla, green tea ice creams were all fresh and good. Weekend lunch is $20.99 which is on the higher end, but it was worth it. Both of us enjoyed Numerous very much and it’s a welcome addition to the area. Mishy ended up returning soon after as well, and I certainly would.
