K&B Sushi Oakville is located at 2045 Winston Park, just north of the QEW off Winston Churchill. K&B has a nice interior, modern with plenty of patrons. Reusable chopsticks are used. AYCD pop is available for $2. Soy sauce at the table was green-lid low-sodium, and was indeed not salty, very fresh and excellent. iPad ordering is used and the iPad had a stylish stand.
Salad had a burnt peanut oil flavor unfortunately as did the Queensway location, but it was less pronounced. Sunomono salad was tiny but nice, rather like bread and butter pickles. Mishy loved the wakame salad, and the mango salad, which was not overly sweet. Miso soup was excellent, savory and with a good flavor balance. Hot and sour soup was very good, not too much of either, and delicious. Corn soup tasted of little but corn, but was still good with a clear rather than usual creamy broth. Mishy did not like the kimchi as it had an unexpected flavor resembling mint in the seasoning; I didn't mind it but it was odd.
Steak teriyaki was delicious, with good sauce, well-cooked and wonderful. Garlic beef was to-die-for good with large chunks of excellent beef. Tempura shrimp was very good, like, flaky, with excellent dipping sauce with wine notes and not too sweet. Wonton soup was deliciously different broth, subtle and quite good. Chicken katsu was very good, sauce is modified ketchup but no complaints (I've encountered this a few times… I could probably contrive a false etymology about "katsu" and the old spelling "catsup" being related.) The second round of steak teriyaki was less sweet, more salt and even better… just about the best I've ever had. General Tao/Tso chicken was very good, we both enjoyed it. Lemon chicken was excellent due to lemony flavorful sauce. Cheese wontons were very good and also had a nice sauce.
Red tuna sushi nigiri was very good, fresh, good rice. Salmon nigiri was very good, fresh with good rice. Red snapper nigiri was similarly good. White tuna nigiri was excellent and appear to be torched and was also seasoned. Beef udon soup was excellent, just about the best with smokey and savory broth. Crab soup was good and fresh.
Dim sum sweet buns were excellent with a delicious filling. Mocha, mango and strawberry cakes were the same brand that 8 Sushi and many other places we have reviewed use. Mango yogurt was excellent. Mango pudding flavor was milder but still quite good. Green tea ice cream was very good, with a strong flavor. Strawberry ice cream was delicious and had an excellent flavour with pieces of strawberry. Mango ice cream had amazing, wonderful flavor only the best have. Vanilla ice cream was very good. All ice creams were fresh. Mishy said that the deep fried milk was not as good as 8 Sushi's. Hot towels are given, but strangely at the beginning of the meal. Service was excellent no service charge was added unlike what it said on Google Maps. Weekend lunch price is $20.95, and I think it was worth it. Although a couple of offerings one of us wasn't big on, there were some stellar items, and most were very good to excellent. Although it didn't have weekend lunch sashimi as the Kipling location did (for a corresponding cost increase) it was still an excellent lunch.
