Shinta Japanese BBQ

Shinta Japanese BBQ is located at 280 East Beaver Creek in Richmond Hill, just north of Hwy. 7. I went for weekday lunch, ordering the reasonably priced lunch special (note that this does NOT occur on weekends.) Shinta had a nice modern interior and looked quite new. Shinta features wagyu beef for dinner but the cost is around $100... per person! Happily, Shinta uses reusable chopsticks. Ordering is done directly from the wait staff. Dipping and seasoning sauce was excellent, with a wine-like flavor and slightly sweet.

Miso soup was excellent, savory, smokey, not dilute. Spicy tofu soup has a tomato base and is slightly reminiscent of Campbell's vegetable, but was quite good and enjoyable. House salad was in a very good original dressing Ginger wasabi, which almost tasted of cheese, but the lettuce was slightly limp. I did not mind however because the dressing was so good. Korean cold noodle had an egg in it like bibimbap, and was delicious with a very nice sauce and soba buckwheat noodles.  Butter corn was excellent in a delicious buttery sauce which turned out very well when grilled.

Beef Sukiyaki bibimbap arrived even though not ordered, but it was very good so I didn't mind at all. Bibimbap was very good, nicely hot with a slice of jalapeno and the sauce was not too sweet. Chicken thighs were excellent, savoury and very well spiced. Sausages were authentically spiced, slightly sweet, delicious. Pork belly aka bacon was also well-spiced and delicious. as were the marinated short ribs.

Beef brisket was marvellously thick and well-spiced.   Mild spicy shrimp were very well seasoned and delicious. Basa with Citrus nuoc cham butter was absolutely delicious with a wonderful almost dill like flavor sauce... unique and I wish I had had it before.

Weekday lunch special was $20.99. I opted for just tea rather than pop and overlooked to find the cost of pop or whether it was AYCD. I can't comment on the dinner quality nor price or their ratio, but for what was presented on lunch, Shinta is an excellent value with quality offerings, and I would very much like to return with Mishy sometime.
