955 Chinese Food is located at 2252 Queen St. E. at Willow, in the Beaches area. It offers an AYCE dim sum lunch daily. Has a quiet darker interior. Disposable chopsticks are used unfortunately but as always we brought our own. Pop is $2 canned not AYCD.
Pork soup dumplings were delicious and fresh. Pork shou mai was very good and also fresh. Mishy liked both of them as well and described the noodles and vegetables as excellent. Spring rolls were excellent with a savoury, brothy flavour, and in fact were better than about 90% of the places we've been to that were twice the price.
Pork dumplings were very good and we both loved them... nice seasoning which reminded us of cinnamon although it may not have been. BBQ pork bun was delicious and also fresh. Chicken wings were excellent, and also fresh and well-seasoned. Chou chow dumplings were delicious with a complex and interesting flavour. Fried egg noodles were excellent and do have some vegetables, again the seasoning was very well done. Shrimp har go was very good and did not require any sauce.
There are no desserts per se, but sesame balls were very good and suffice. What was that above about “twice the price”? Yes, this very nice AYCE lunch was an almost unbelievable $14.99, the same price as the much-lauded and not-as-good Bento King. Both are in upscale areas so are unexpectedly inexpensive, but 955 didn’t need any “well, at least” excuses... though the offerings are the bare basics for dim sum (other than the wings) it was all good and a fantastic deal, one of the best anywhere!
