Yang's Sushi Bar Japanese Restaurant

Yang's Sushi Bar Japanese Restaurant is located at 4261 Hwy. 7 in Unionville, just west of Main St. Ordering is to waiter. Yang's has a semi-modern interior. $2.30 AYCD pop is available. Disposable chopsticks are used unfortunately. Teapot is left at table which I prefer. Low-sodium soy sauce is available on request though it was still a bit salty. We went for weekend lunch.

Miso soup was super-fantastic: dark, rich, savory, very fresh, and not dilute. Salmon nigiri sushi was excellent and we enjoyed it very much; very fresh and with good rice consistency. Salmon rose, Mishy's favourite dish, was similarly excellent and everyone loved it. Sirloin steak on skewer was truly delicious (and truly steak) with an excellent BBQ flavor. Beef tenderloin was grilled cubes with garlic and was fantastic. Mishy didn't like the chicken teriyaki, but I did; it did have a different texture, but I enjoyed the sauce. Beef rib slices were similarly fantastic: smoky, tender, moist and very well seasoned.

Shrimp tempura was very good, light, flaky, only slightly oily, and the dipping sauce was very tasty. Teriyaki mushrooms were delicious, smoky and worked very well with the sauce; this is a dish other places you should have. Beef udon soup was fantastic, with a very dark, rich, savory beef broth. Vegetable fried rice was excellent, also with a smoky flavor and well seasoned. Pork shogayaki was also fantastically smokey and savoury with perfect spicing.

For dessert mango and ginger ice creams were very fresh and good. Service was very fast, although unfortunately our waitress' grasp of English was not perfect so some wrong items arrived, but I can't complain as it's a difficult job and they do their best; this didn't detract from the meal (or rating) at all. Weekend lunch was $20.99 and this is a good price considering the area, and the quality and enjoyment of the items received; we had an excellent lunch and I would happily return.

Rating: 9-9.5/10
