Dahu Hotpot is located at 47 Baldwin St. in Toronto's core, a few mins. walk NW from the St. Patrick (Dundas) subway station. We went for weekend lunch. Pop is $1.99, canned not AYCD. Provided water with lemon slices had a strange stale flavour rather than being bright and citrusey. (How can anyone get water wrong?) Stylish, attractive modern interior with modern music and had plenty of other customers.

Of course, as with other hotpots, it's required to buy the broth separately; I tend to go with mushroom as it's inexpensive and doesn't overpower the flavours of the ingredients so that everything ends up tasting the same. I missed that they had sukiyaki or would have ordered that! Dahu has a sauce station about midway with some salads and other sides. The pickled radish was pretty good, and they also had that sliced hot potato julienne that I have only had at the very budget Yue Lai Buffet that I hated there, but it was much better here, as expected. My preferred sauce mix is black vinegar, soy, minced garlic, and oyster sauce.
Mishy didn't want the crystal beef but I liked it... she just wanted the other beef dishes. Pork and chicken were quite good. Mochi cheese we both loved and was one of our favourite dishes; It preserves its flavour well. Udon noodles were very good. Juicy beef ball was delicious, and the shaved beef itself was good enough that I didn't need any dipping as it picked up a flavour of the broth very well. Beware the crab sticks (probably surimi) as they disintegrate almost immediately onto strings in the hot pot.
As expected Mishy wasn't into the fish balls but I didn't mind them. The Hong Kong sausage was pretty good. Beware the portion size of cabbage. I left the spam for the last item so that it picked up the flavour well.
For dessert the only item included is soft serve ice cream, though it is delicious and more so than most of the vanilla soft serve I've ever had and served in cones. Weekend lunch is $31.99, which is only slightly over average. Everything but the water was good, though nothing really standout but at least nothing bad foodwise!
